Is this a start to 3D Printer patent wars like in the phone industry?

How will this effect the home DIY'r

Some of the things they are suing over seems it is a software issue and not a hardware. Example is the layer hiding pathing, that is like saying you cant start at a certain corner and start machining or something. Isnt that a tool path? The X/Y/Z controls how the extruder moves and when it starts and stops.

IMO this isnt like the phone issues, it is more like Napster issues for downloading music. It is out now and it will be impossible to stop. Like a dam with tiny holes, as soon as they plug one hole 3 more will pop open.
