    Odd print failure

New to 3D printing here. I just got my first 3D printer the other day and I have been enjoying it quite a bit by printing things for my various board games.

Two days ago I started having prints fail seemingly for no reason at all.

I've done a lot of research on Google trying to look up different types of failures and the causes/fixes for them but can not find anything that seems like what I am experiencing.

My print is getting odd peaks in the first three layers that causes the the nozzle to catch on it and rips the print off the platter.

I have cleaned/replaced the nozzle, cleaned the hot end, and checked the extruder. I did notice that the filament slips in the extruder on occasions though I do not feel it would be causing this.

    Printer: Geeetech A10M
Filament: HATCHBOX ABS (I know ABS is not recommended for beginers. I did not know this till after.)
    Nozzle Temperature: 240C
    Bed Temperature: 100C
