    What is 3D Printing?

3D printing is a process of making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, usually by laying down many successive thin layers of a host of different types of material. It is also known as additive manufacturing (AM) and it empower designers and manufacturers print object of any shape and geometric dimension.

In simple words, it is one of the fastest modes of developing physical prototypes accurately and true to scale.

    What is 3D printing?

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file.
The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the object is created.
Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.

    How does 3D printing work?

It all starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is for instance a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file. This CAD file is created using a 3D modeling application or with a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). A 3D scanner can make a 3D digital copy of an object.

    3D scanners:
3D scanners use different technologies to generate a 3D model. Examples are: time-of-flight, structured / modulated light, volumetric scanning and many more.

    3D modeling software:
3D modeling software also comes in many forms. There’s industrial grade software that costs thousands a year per license, but also free open source software.

I'd also add that you can use different materials for 3D printing, such as plastics, ceramics, resins, metals, wax, photopolymers, chocolate and so on.

3D Printing is one of the latest technologies which also known as additive manufacturing technique.

This technique makes use of a 3D printing material such as plastics, metal, wood, ceramics, paper and alloys etc. and formulates a 3D object with the help of a specific 3D CAD Design. With 3D printers, you could create even the most intricate design objects with utter ease. Here are some more details for beginners.you can have a look to this article for more information.

3D Printing is better known as additive manufacturing technology and is a process to manufacture objects with various kinds of printing materials such as plastics, metal, and composite elements.

You just need to get a digital 3D file to assist your 3D Printer and the equipment would deposit layers or the printing materials, till a complete 3D printed object is formed.
